REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUNUKAN — Indonesian border officers have impounded a Vietnamese-registered cargo ship for encroaching on the Indonesian waters in Nunukan district, North Kalimantan province. The ship carrying 29 thousand tons of rice is now at Tunon Taka port in Nunukan district to undergo immigration check.
All of the ship’s crew members held complete immigration documents, chief of Tunon Taka immigration checkpoint Nasution said speaking on behalf of chief of the Nunukan immigration office Ferry Herling Ishak Shout.
“The travel documents of all crew members of the Vietnamese-registered ship are complete after we have checked them,” he said.
The 1,599 GT Vietnamese ship MV Dong Tien Phu Golden carried 13 crew members consisting of nine Vietnamese citizens and four Indian citizens. The ship carried 29 thousand tons of rice en route to Labuan in the Malaysian state of Sabah.
The Vietnamese crew members were identified as Nguyen Sy Duc, Pham Hai Thao, Nguyen Huu Phong, Pham Van Tri, Vu Dinh Si, Nguyen Thanh Dung, Bui Xuan Quynh, Le Chao The and Le Mai Luc, while the Indian citizens are identified as Harpal Singh, Deepak, Raj Sachin and Murali Govindappa.
As the crew members had complete immigration documents and were not found violating immigration, the ship was justified to enter the Indonesian territorial waters in Nunukan district on Thursday (April 19), Nasution said.
